Hi Food52ers,
Today we have a very exciting announcement—we’re hiring!
Food52 was born as a community and has flourished as one. Community weaves into everything we do, from creating recipes and getting feedback on our product development to supporting each other during the chaos of cooking Thanksgiving dinner.
As we’ve grown, so has our community and the number of places we congregate. We’re here on the site; we’re on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok; we’re on podcasts; and we’re at events IRL.

It’s time that we add a Community Editor to our New York City team, whose sole focus will be supporting, engaging, and inspiring our community now and in the future. There’s no better place to look for this person than within our actual community—right here, among all of you!
Here are some key points from our job listing:
“At Food52, we have an exceptionally positive community, who love to share their knowledge and help others. We are a constructive community—one where members participate in meaningful ways to make Food52 a better resource, whether that’s through contributing recipes, engaging in positive discourse in our on-site or social comments, writing us DMs, testing recipes, writing content, entering a recipe contest, reviewing a product on our shop, answering questions on hotline, or helping develop our products. We’re looking for someone who will further cultivate ways for members of our community to engage with each other, contribute to our content and product creation, and manage the execution of these processes. This may mean running our annual Holiday Swap, overseeing our recipe contests, and spearheading our community’s input into our Five Two products, as well as dreaming up new initiatives. Our Community Editor will be tasked with growing engagement and participation, and will be the eyes and ears of what our community needs.
Our Community Editor needs to have:
- Proven experience as a Food52 community member (or another online community).
- Direct experience as a community manager for a food or lifestyle brand.
- An understanding of what resonates with our diverse community and conviction about what we can be doing to better serve them across all of our channels.
The ideal Community Editor will have project management and editorial experience, and be comfortable handling a vast amount of internal and external communications. This editor will be excited to get to know all corners of our community and to make everyone’s experience productive and fulfilling. Creating compelling programming for our existing engaged Food52 community, and our future members, is paramount.”
If this is you, or you have someone great to recommend, please point them to our job description here.
We can’t wait to get this process started—and look forward to working with our Community Editor as soon as possible!
Your fellow community pal,
Amanda

I’ve written several books, including “Cooking for Mr. Latte” and “The Essential New York Times Cookbook.” I played myself in “Julie & Julia” — hope you didn’t blink, or you may have missed the scene! I live in Brooklyn with my husband, Tad, and twins, Walker and Addison.
